Hugo & Victor is a Parisian pastry shop for which Camille Gabarra created the visual identity. Hugues Pouget, the chef and founder, then asked vrai studio the release of his book, published by Éditions de La Martinière.

The project encompasses art direction, styling, and photography: several days of photo shoots dedicated to pastries, materials, techniques, and carefully crafted setups. No artifice. Each image begins with the object itself—its texture, its precision, and the light it deserves. Food photography is a discipline of interpretation: it does not merely reproduce; it offers a perspective. This project brings together two aspects of vrai studio work: an intimate understanding of the Hugo & Victor brand and mastery of high-level culinary photography direction.

Mazet Confiseur is a historic confectionery and chocolate shop based in Montargis, with a history dating back to the 19th century. Éditions de La Martinière has published a book about the company and entrusted the photography direction to vrai studio.

The project involves several days of on-site photography. Camille Gabarra is responsible for art direction, styling, and photography: lifestyle shoots, product pack shots, manufacturing details, and workshop lighting. Each image is crafted to capture the texture and atmosphere of the artisanal confectionery without resorting to generic illustration. This type of project requires an understanding of the product, the brand, and the book all at once. Photography does not merely document; it interprets. It must serve all three simultaneously: the confectionery, the publisher, and the reader who will discover the book in a bookstore.
